Yeh, we’ve all heard so many times the message that smoking gives us lung cancer (in most cases) but did you know you can also get over 20 other life shortening conditions from those little pleasure sticks that you gladly puff away on each day.
Diseases such as Cardiovascular disease. This is said to be the main cause of death due to smoking.
Hardening of the arteries is a process that develops over years, when cholesterol and other fats deposit in the arteries, leaving them narrow, blocked or rigid. When the arteries narrow , blood clots are likely to form.
Smoking accelerates the hardening and narrowing process in your arteries: it starts earlier and blood clots are two to four times more likely.
Cardiovascular disease can take many forms depending on which blood vessels are involved, and all of them are more common in people who smoke. So, you could just die from this alone, do you also know Gangrene is a major symptom of long term smoking. If your not aware of this just go to a hospital and ask, they will tell you all about smoking and the diseases caused by it.
Other diseases can be Cerebral Thrombosis. This causes the vessels to the brain to become blocked, which can lead to collapse, stroke and paralysis.
Or how about High Blood Pressure or Kidney failure?
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) which was associated with people who were coal miners in days gone by, but is equally associated with smoking.

You get the picture. Smoking is bad for you and those around you but you can give up, right?
This aspect of the whole situation is the most difficult. The brain is so tuned into your addiction it finds it hard to stop your cravings, despite the whole bit above.
